Today, we bought Aiden a Munchkin fresh food feeder (picture). It's essentially a tiny mesh bag you put food inside, and then your baby gums the hell out of it, mushes the food inside the bag, that then oozes through the mesh. The mushed up food is then safe to slide down the baby's throat. Or onto their hands. Their face. Their shirt. You know: wherever it goes, you know it's safe.
So, anyway. We get home and stick a banana in the feeder. He loves it. There's this strange animal fire in his eyes while he gums on the mesh. He tries to cram the entire thing in his mouth. His mouth has to stretch to get it all in. And when he sucks on it, he growls. When the banana runs out, he flails and whines. When we give him more, he shoves it back in his mouth and growls again.
Debbi says it's like baby crack.
That picture is really somewhere closer to three months. He still won't crawl, but that's ok. We get so excited about all the new things he does, all the new sounds he makes, but really, we'd like him to slow down, so we could enjoy it more.
More picutres since we're behind and people have been getting on to us. Reall, it's not our fault. Aiden and Surri prefer to stay out of the limelight... :-p
He's started cooing in a mildly communicative way. Ever since he was born, he's been doing impressions of all inds of famous people: Orson Welles, Lorn Chaney, etc.
And now that he's cooing, he's started to do vocal impressions. I recorded some. (I got a Mac for work and it is the most awesome collection of software I have ever touched.)
Anyway, these are three of Boog's really good impressions: malnourished Ethiopian child, bird-flu baby, and Abu Ghraib interrogatee.
Someday, he's going to be a famous actor. You can just tell. :-)
Wow. As of ctober 26th, Boog's officially two months old. It''s really flown by, mostly because it's just Jolie and he's kept us alost constantly occupied the entire time. Oy.
We've got lots of pictures, but I'll have to upload them in a bit. He's even more handsome now!
The new job's been decent. I have to travel to Philly once or twice a week. That was rough for a bit because I was trying to be in Philly from 9-5. Now I've adjusted my schedule so the 9-5 includes travel. Leaves me less time in Philadelphia, but the extra hour or so of sleep has been awesome.
That's it, really. Not much else going on. Work. Baby. Sleep.
Jolie walked out of the appointment with Jackie, the midwife, and called to let me know that Fils is currently 6.5 pounds, and expected to be a full 8 pounds by the time he comes out. Wow.
Of course, I asked how Jackie would know Fils's weight, and Jolie said she just felt around and gave a pronouncement. Some hippy mumbo-jumbo about knowing. :-)
I feel bad that a larger baby can make labor a little harder, but at least he's healthy!
The best thing about this trip to Houston was how Jolie would reach over to stick Darklands into the cassette player. Something about that album makes everything okay.
This was definitely one of the best trips to Houston, we've had in a long time. I ended up with an extra day that took the edge off and let us relax a bit. And, lucky enough, it was an Underworld weekend, so we got to go out and say hi to all the old school peeps. Of course, we didn't have nearly enough time to visit with everyone, but ti was good to at least see them, collect our hugs, and generally step inside numbers.
Amy even got us to dance, and anyone that can get an 8-month pregnant Jolie to dance to two songs in a row is a genius. (The secret? "Under the milky way" and "Cuts you up").
We saw Carmina, Shonna, Dana, Jason, Samantha's Amy (though I lost her and couldn't say hi), Moses, Vampire James, HIdeous Jeff, Punk Rock Jeff, Hacker Jeff, Frankie, Matt, Nicole, Corbin, Gareth, and Vanessa. It was awesome.
We also got some good bonding time in with Roy and Renee, Jolie's parents, and my mom. Jolie even got to talk to my sisters some.
It was hard leaving Jolie in Houston. I have this everpresent fear that she'll drop inti precipitous labor and have the baby when I'm not there. That would really suck. This morning, cuddling with her before I left, I felt Aiden pressing on her belly. He was being gentle this morning. I think he was trying to be nice. I hope he heard me say "bye".
